Improving your smile
Creating a radiant, natural looking smile with the latest dental innovations, Health First Dental are proud of the ability to help you achieve the smile you have always desired.
Dentistry is no longer just a case of filling or extracting teeth. As many people choose to have cosmetic dentistry as a way of improving their appearance, much the same as having a new hairstyle. The treatments can be used to straighten, lighten and reshape a single tooth or your entire mouth.
Tooth coloured fillings
These are done using either of two materials, dental ceramic or composite resin. The most durable and aesthetic material for white fillings is dental ceramic. After preparation of your tooth, an impression mould is taken and a ceramic restoration is created, which fits directly onto your teeth.
Ceramic inlays typically have about double the lifespan of regular composite resin white fillings, which are placed in layers and sculpted directly onto your teeth and hardened through the use of a specially developed blue curing light.
Dental Fillings
Dental fillings are used to repair minimal tooth fractures, tooth decay, or damaged surfaces of the teeth. Filling materials may be used to repair or improve surfaces for better chewing. In many cases, individuals with enamel loss resulting in tooth sensitivity will notice a significant improvement once the appropriate dental filling material is placed.
If you have severely damaged your tooth and the internal nerves are exposed or have become infected then a root canal treatment may need to be performed.
Ceramic Technology
Ceramic is the material of choice when it comes to restoring your smile. Used for veneers, crowns, bridges and inlays, ceramic is the finest material available for dental restorations.
While other materials are effective, ceramic is the material that is most able to withstand the extreme day-to-day functions that our teeth endure, therefore offering the best long-term result. Not only is ceramic superior in strength to regular fillings, it is also the most aesthetically pleasing. Through its various colour shades, tooth-like transparency and smooth texture, ceramic is the closest match to natural tooth enamel.
Ceramic restorations are individually hand-made to specific dimensions by our specialist ceramist following a detailed preparation process. As well as impressions of the teeth, we may provide drawings, information on shape, shade and translucency, along with information about your bite pattern. Each step in the process involves professional communication and expert craftsmanship to ensure your restoration blends seamlessly with your natural teeth.
Dental Veneers
If your teeth are chipped, crooked, stained or discoloured, veneers may be an ideal way to repair them. A veneer is a thin, hardwearing layer of porcelain or composite resin bonded to your front teeth to improve their size, shape and colour creating a flawless and natural looking smile.
Ceramic is the best material for veneers as it is the most durable and aesthetic material available. It reflects the light in a similar way to real tooth enamel, so your veneers will look and feel completely natural. In some circumstances, veneers may be used as an alternative to orthodontic treatment to achieve a straight smile.
